At the AHA conference in Orlando last week, researchers presented information on a new way to screen patents who present to the ED with chest pain. Their research showed that CT angiography was at least as effective and more cost effective than the normal standard screening with myocardial perfusion imaging. The study also showed the patients in the CT group spent less time in the hospital prior to diagnosis (3 hours vs. 6.3 hours).
